Congratulations, Details Dust Bunnies!

The strong and sassy Details-sponsored triathlon team competed in its first event August 16th, 2009: the YWCA of Minneapolis Women's Triathlon at Baker Park in Maple Plain, MN, and it was amazing! This sprint-distance race is the only all-women's tri in Minnesota, with distances of a 500-yard lake swim, a 15.8-mile bike, and a 5k run, with transitions between each leg also being timed. 465 women between the ages of 15 and 71 finished. This was a well organized race. The Dust Bunnies were particularly pleased with such details as hand sanitizers by the post-race snacks. Uncharacteristically for a tri, racers seemed to race together, offering encouragement to other racers even as they themselves were near exhaustion. The biggest team? The DETAILS DUST BUNNIES were so big, we had our own tent!

At 6am that Sunday, the Dust Bunnies were driving to the race in a pitch-black rainstorm. The rain stopped just in time for the race, however. The temperature was pleasant, and although the bike leg was windy at times, the weather overall was good...not that this made the race a cake-walk. A tough, hilly course with long transitions made for longer times than a typical sprint triathlon, averaging about 2 hours even. Our Dust Bunnies love a challenge, however, and they rose to the occasion. Each finished with solid performance of which they should be proud. In fact, our own Lisa Robinson took 2nd place in the swim leg and 13th overall, besting 97% of the field! Dust Bunnies placed inside the top 10th percentile overall and in every leg.

Event proceeds supported the YWCA's "Strong Fast Fit" youth program. The Dust Bunnies also raised money to support the Animal Humane Society of Golden Valley, donating a total of $750.00.

Details is proud of its team and is pleased to support women's fitness as well as two local non-profits, the YWCA of Minneapolis and the Animal Humane Society.

11 'fast and furious' women are currently in training for the August 16th, 2009 YWCA of Minneapolis Women's Triathlon. This sprint-distance race is the only all-women's tri in Minnesota, with distances of a 500 yard lake swim, a 15 mile bike, and a 5k run, with transitions between each leg also being timed. The race promises to be challenging and competitive as well as inspirational. The race venue will be Baker Park in Maple Plain, MN.
